Water pump sealant is not one product. A water pump gasket needs RTV that's sensor-safe and rated for coolant contact. Coolant systems run above 200°F, and ordinary silicone breaks down when coolant soaks into it over time. The household tube in your garage is not a substitute.
Check the temperature range on the tube: quality RTVs list ranges like -65°F to 400°F or higher. That covers a thermostat housing. Then check the date code — most RTV has a shelf life of 12 to 18 months. After that, the curing chemistry changes and the joint leaks. Not right away. Usually when it's hot and pressurized.
4. How much is a muffler repair? Make them itemize it
If you're asking "how much is a muffler repair", you're asking the wrong question. The right question is "what exactly are you repairing, and what does each part cost?"

- Complete muffler replacement with an aftermarket part: $250–$450

A muffler shop that "handles everything" is often a muffler shop that lets the newest tech do your brake job. 6. Inspect before you install
